Tell us about yourself?

I don’t like being idle and strive for continuous personal and professional development. I have two engineering degrees (BSc in software engineering and MSc in biomedical 2016-06-11 09.30.59engineering) and I love to teach and play music. A new adventure is always a pleasure, and I love travelling to experience new cultures and take part in new experiences. In my spare time, I am gardening, modelling, crafting, gaming, doing yoga, and whatever else tickles my fancy.

What do you make and create?

I make beautiful decorative and daily use candles, practical bath and body care, and melts. I also love sharing how simple it can be to make their own products by teaching public and private workshops.

What makes them uniquely handmade?

I developed my lip balm to solve a problem I was having as a musician during the busy holiday season. My lips were dry and regular lip balm wasn’t cutting it. It made a mess of my instrument and irritated me. Since I started sharing the lip balm, I’ve found people absolutely love it! From athletes to other musicians to people who know just how dry it is here, it’s been a hit. I am having a blast experimenting with beeswax in many applications the most apparent of which are the candles and lip balms I make. However, I recently debuted a new product – beeswax melts. The melts are an all natural alternative to other melts on the market that often contain petroleum byproducts. Adding in a little bit of flare with dried flowers, bark, and leaves, I think they are adorable.

When did you first get started in the handmade world?

I’ve been making things ever since I can remember with my mom, grandma, and aunts. The earliest projects I remember doing include cross stitch and crochet.

What or who inspires you or your business (creations)?

I grew up in southern Alberta and absolutely love the landscape. It may look boring on the surface, but that is definitely not the case on closer inspection. From the blooming cacti to wild onions, there is so much to discover! I like to combine my local experiences with travel experiences as well. Travelling is such an easy way to get new ideas! My bees are also pretty inspirational, especially on some of my less productive days…

What are your hope and dreams for the future of your business?

I am very excited to expand more into agriculture and apiculture while growing the business internationally.

Do you have a “motto” or “mantra” that helps you get through days when things aren’t going quite right?

Captain Picard says it best – Make it so.

What is one fun fact about you or your business?

I love giving back to the community and $0.25 from every lip balm sold goes to Apiaries and Bees for Communities in support of their educational programs
